Project Standing
Written by Cate Shea and Barbara Espiritu, frantic is a labor of love. With both working more than full time jobs, they fight to make this web series a possibility. Cate has worked as a semi-professional photographer and videographer for the past two years and Barbara has a formal education in writing. Together they are completing a 12 episode script for short 5 minute episodes filmed in a episodic "moment in life" way, detailing excerpts of these fictional but empathetic characters. The script aims for resonance with audiences that often don't get to see themselves in media as anything other than reductionist stereotypes.
The script is nearing completion with 8 of the 12 episodes written and going into the revision process. A budget is in the works and much of the necessary gear has been secured. Over the months of August and September, Cate and Barbara hope to complete a trailer, treatment, pitch, and distribution and marketing plan, and finalize the script and budget before pursuing local grants.
They hope to launch a crowd funding campaign in mid October and begin casting November with filming planned for December and April. Episodes will be edited in the summer of 2018 and released each week when all episodes are ready. Bonus material and sneak peaks will be available for patrons of the series.

Project Goals
frantic hopes to do more than pay lip-service to inclusiveness and community. Most characters will be gender-blind and race-blind casting and open to all body types and physical ability. Creators Cate and Barbara are trying to secure funding to compensate actors and want to cast as many local people as possible. The setting, Holyoke MA, will be as strong feature. Canvasing will begin soon to find to local business that would be willing to serve as a setting for some scenes with the businesses accredited in the credits and tagged on social media so viewers can ideally trickle through. frantic was a winner at the August Holyoke Soup, a community based crowd funding benefit. We are energized and grateful for the community love and support!
frantic
Fran is a hip queer gal with clinically diagnosed anxiety bouncing from one uncomfortable encounter to another doing her best to connect to the locals in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. As a New York City transplant, she spends her vacations from teaching with her dear friend Caleb, a young trans boi doing their best to find their footing, and their partner Sam, a fellow anxious but lovable girl.
The three work together to find and build community as they face a world not built for queer, POC, and immigrant people. Their household stands to normalize mental health, radical love, and growth as they find humor and empathy in the byproducts of socially uncomfortable people trying and often failing to navigate the world around them.
