Local Business
frantic is very diliberate in its setting. Creators Cate and Barbie were tired of only movies in large cities getting clear names with the rest being fictional towns in either "the local, rural, and sometimes misguided South where everyone knows your name" or "obscure New England town that could really be anywhere." We don't need more movies about Boston, but we do need more media with nameable small towns.
frantic was a winner at the August Holyoke Soup, a community based crowd funding benefit. We are energized and grateful for the community love and support!

Requirements:
-
Venue Release: You must sign a venue release granting us permission to use the footage. This will be provided and is standard
-
Inclusive Business: frantic aims to represent the real diversity of our area and therefore has characters outside of the typical straight, white heteronomative man. Your business must be progressive in the sense that both the actors and the real day to day people who interact with your business are always welcome. Is your business filled with decent humans who welcome other humans? Do your ads try and show the vast array of life out there? Have you avoided funding organizations that may be harmful or hateful to specific demographics? Awesome. You should be good to go!
-
Geographic Location: Preference is given to Holyoke business as that is the real heart of the show, but we are open to surrounding areas in the Pioneer Valley.
-
Citation Text: Let us know how you'd like your business to be sited in credits and if there's facebook page or website you'd like linked in video descriptions or credits. Please limit it to one link.
-
Business Type: Your business does not need to be a restaurant. It can be anything from a doctor's office, waiting room, grocery store, bar, consignment shop, etc. While a lot of the episodes will take place in typical 'date night' areas, there are other scenes outside of those!
-
Contact Us: Drop us a line and send us an email with the best way to contact you and your availability! We're hoping to film in December and again in April. Check back to the site for further developments.
-
It is free to be featured in the series!
Venues we're most interested in filming at:
(but we are open to other spaces!)
-
Restaurants
-
Bars
-
Book shop
-
A clothing store that sells undergarments
-
A mall-like setting
-
Music or theater spaces that ideally we can film at when there is and isn't a set so we can film without being obtrusive and edit in local artists and sound in post production
Sponsorship
Why a web series?
Media is becoming shorter, more digestible, and millennials are looking outside of cable for their entertainment. Series like Awkward Black Girl, Gayle, and Her Story have seen wide success and loyal followings with episodes averaging 5 minutes. We live in digital marketplace where companies like Facebook have made billions without selling more than our attention. Want to make your business seen? More importantly, want to support inclusive, feel-good projects and fresh new ideas? Let your business stand out and sponsor frantic today.
What costs does frantic face?
While Cate is using much of their equipment from their part time job as a professional videographer and photographer, frantic still faces out of pocket expenses such as website management, microphones, ideally actor compensation, music rights and licenses, and outsourced work like logos and an animated opening title sequence.
What do you get?
-
Sponsors of $100+ will be listed on frantic's website
-
Sponsors of $250+ will have their names featured at the end of season one's episode credits and on frantic’s website
-
Sponsors of $400+ will get a personal spoken shout-out from one of the actors at the end of an episode, a text mention in the beginning of the episode, and a feature on the series' website
Other Means of Support
Love this project but don't have the funds to $upport it? Are you a musician, editor, or animator? Available to film on b-roll and camera 2? Want to bring food to actors? We love and welcome all means of support and would welcome any and all help or assistance. If you would like to grant commercial usage rights to your media or assist us in our marketing and distribution, we'd welcome and appreciate that. Think you can help in a way not mentioned? Drop us a line and let us know!
There is so much richness in real places. Neither Cate nor Barbie saw the point in building a fictional supportive community when they lived in a real authentic one in Holyoke. The show does try to feature as many local spaces as possible without changing the names and adding more layers of unnecessary distance from real local richness. Each episode the shows a local venue will have the venue listed in the credits with their associate website or logo at the venue's and creators' discretion.
There are two main ways for local businesses to support this show: financial sponsorship or allowing us to film at your venue. If your local business would like to be featured in frantic, please send us an email with your business name, location, and availability. We ask that restaurant venues be willing to provide food to the actors at free or discounted rates - because it will be shown in the series, we recommend making a dish you want to be reflective of your business! If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out so we can make it a fully collaborative and mutually beneficial interaction!
